Sukirani
200 USD financed in August 2015
Sukirani is a 44-year-old rural woman from the small village of Gokul Singhabati, Kandi in West Bengal (India). She is a mother of four children (two daughters and two sons). Her daughters are married. She is illiterate and can only sign her name. Sukirani is engaged in a cottage cheese business with the help of her two sons. Her husband works in the farming sector. Sukirani buys milk from different dairy farms and prepares cottage cheese and paneer in her home to sell in the markets as well as in the local sweetmeat shops. Now Sukirani wants to expand her business. Thus, she needs more milk. Due to a lack of adequate capital, Sukirani applied for a loan to purchase milk in a bulk amount. She hopes this loan will give a boost to her business and improve her family’s financial status. She dreams of opening a sweetmeat shop in the market in the future.
